A renewable and sustainable source of energy, biomass originates from natural energy sources including timber, crops and plants which can be burnt to generate heat and power.
Biomass fuel can also include food, animal and industrial waste.

A cleaner energy source compared to conventional energy, biomass as a type of fuel is not only more cost effective when compared with fossil fuels, it’s more eco-friendly too. While traditional fossil fuels like coal and gas release high levels of carbon dioxide (Co2) into the atmosphere, contributing to climate change, biomass energy is kinder to the environment because it produces much less carbon emissions.

Biomass is generally regarded as carbon neutral. This is because when trees are burnt they release the same amount of Co2 as they consume. Perhaps the greatest benefit of bio energy is the associated savings on carbon dioxide emissions. When a domestic property replaces an existing electric storage heating, or traditional boiler heating system, up to 9.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide can be saved every year, whilst businesses can save hundreds of tonnes of CO² a year by replacing their fossil-fuelled heating system with Biomass.


Like a conventional boiler, biomass wood gasification boilers are used for space heating and hot water. Biomass boilers can be installed into new buildings as well as retro fitted into existing buildings.

Biomass pellets, logs or chips will be delivered to your site by a lorry and stored in a pre-constructed storage area located at your premises. A fully automated feeding station will regulate and deliver the correct amount of fuel to the combustion chamber for burning, which will then heat the water in the biomass boiler and produce the amount of heat needed on site.

Biomass heating is extremely efficient and, when replacing solid fuel heating, the cost savings can be significant, especially for businesses with high heat usage. Heat generated by wood chips, pellets or logs costs considerably less than traditional heat sources such as electricity, oil and gas. As a sustainable energy, bio energy has many advantages. When you factor in the carbon reduction savings and the financial rewards from the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), not only can biomass wood gasification boilers bring down the cost of heating bills, they can also generate a substantial residual annual income.
